Every year, educational conferences produce the same pile of waste: printed badges, plastic sleeves, lanyards nobody keeps, registration and sign-up sheets. The list goes on and on. This October, ADRIES 2026 is tackling the problem.

As sponsors of the Adriatic Education Development Research & Innovation Symposium, we are bringing Green Standard Schools sustainability principles directly into the conference's operations, as well as its programme.

The result: a fully digital, paperless check-in system.

Every attendee will receive a personal link with a unique QR code on their phone, which staff will scan at registration. The system, specially developed by the Green Standard Schools team, logs a unique personal token along with the date and time of each registration, ensuring compliance with funding programs such as Erasmus.

It's a small piece of infrastructure with an outsized message: sustainability at a conference doesn't have to be limited to a session topic or a booth in the exhibition hall. It can be built into the very first interaction an attendee has with the event, the moment they walk through the door.

Green Standard Schools is proud to support ADRIES as a sustainability partner. Beyond the paperless check-in system, we will also take the stage with President Jonathan Dykes presenting on the Green Standard Schools accreditation scheme and sharing practical green practices every language school can adopt.
