Second step
Complete the first section of our application form which provides us with some basic information about your school. This shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to complete.

Third step
Complete the self assessment form so we can assess your current environmental policies and practices. This form consists of 50 Yes/No questions. If you answer 'Yes' to any of the questions, you will need to upload some form of evidence so we can verify your statement. This evidence could be a photo, a policy document, a link to a website, or whatever you think is most appropriate. You will probably need 5-6 hours to complete this self assessment form, but you don't need to do it all at once; you can save what you have done and continue at another time.

Send us your completed self assessment form and our assessors will then review it and provide feedback on every question. They will also award points, both for the answers you have given and for the evidence you have provided (so the evidence is crucial!). There is a maximum of 200 points available. To qualify as a Green Standard School you will need to obtain a minimum of 130 points, which means you don't have to be perfect (no school is) but you do have to demonstrate a commitment to sustainability across a range of your activities.
Whether you qualify for accreditation or not, we will send you a detailed report on your application within 10 working days. This is completely free of charge.

If you qualify for accreditation, we will ask you to sign a membership agreement and pay the corresponding fee (see table below). Once we have received the agreement, you will receive a certificate showing your accreditation, together with copies or our logo to use on your website and in social media.
