AISLi and GSS

Working to improve standards.

The Associazione Italiana Scuole di Lingue (AISLi), founded in 1979, is a leading organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in foreign language education across Italy. The association sets rigorous academic and administrative standards for its member schools, ensuring high-quality language instruction.

AISLi's mission is to uphold superior teaching standards through a comprehensive accreditation process. Member schools undergo thorough inspections every three years, evaluating aspects such as curriculum quality, teacher qualifications, and student services. These schools are required to adhere to the Students' Charter and the Code of Professional Conduct, reflecting AISLi's commitment to maintaining high educational standards.

In many respects GSS operates in parallel to AISLi. Whereas ASILi has established a benchmark for excellence in language education standards, GSS has established a benchmark for excellence in environmental sustainability within the language teaching sector.

We were therefore delighted to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with AISLi, and to have been invited to explain our work at the association’s annual conference, which this year took place in the beautiful town of Reggio Emilia.

GSS President Jonathan Dykes explained why language schools need to do their part to lessen their environmental impact and also outlined the many potential benefits to schools of achieving GSS accreditation.

Currently GSS has three accredited members in Italy which are:

International House Palermo

International House British School Pisa

Scuola Leonardo Da Vince Milano

We look forward to welcoming many more Italian schools to our association in the coming months.
